CFLS is proud to welcome Pia to our team, a dedicated and thoughtful legal professional who joins us as a Paralegal.
Pia began her studies at Victoria University in 2020 and graduated with a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) in 2025. During her time at university, Pia gained hands-on experience working at Chrisopoulidis & Associates, where she was exposed to a wide range of legal areas including family law and criminal law. It was through this exposure that Pia developed a particular interest in family law, which later became the focus of her Honours thesis. Her thesis tackled new legislation that came into effect in May 2024, regarding equal shared parental responsibility. This was a very rewarding experience for Pia, as she broadened her knowledge on extremely important family law legislation that is dealt with in all parenting matters.
In addition to her work experience, Pia volunteered in a paralegal role at the Brimbank Community Legal Centre in Melton. This role deepened her understanding of the sensitive and complex nature of family violence matters and helped her develop the skills needed to support clients navigating high-stress and emotionally charged situations. Pia is currently completing her Practical Legal Training (PLT) with the Leo Cussen Centre for Law and she wishes to one day practice as a lawyer.
Family law first captured Pia’s attention during her second year of university, and her passion for the field has only grown since. Through placements and volunteer work, Pia has developed a strong commitment to helping both parents and children as they engage with the legal processes surrounding separation, parenting arrangements, and family violence. Her goal is to provide clear, compassionate support to families during what is often one of the most difficult times in their lives.
Outside of work and study, Pia is a passionate sports enthusiast. Growing up in a sports-oriented household meant that there was always sport on the TV, whether it was AFL, NBA, cricket, or Formula 1. In her spare time, Pia enjoys diving into a good book, especially novels by Emily Henry, and finds joy in training and spending time with her energetic and lovable two-year-old Border Collie, Willow.
Pia first joined CFLS through a placement organised by Victoria University. From the outset, she felt a strong alignment with the organisation’s values, particularly its emphasis on teamwork, collaboration, and empathetic client care. The CFLS team was immediately impressed by Pia’s initiative, adaptability, and determination to tackle unfamiliar tasks with confidence and care. At the conclusion of her placement, Pia was enthusiastically offered a part-time paralegal position, and we are thrilled to have her continue as part of our team.
Pia is CFLS’s go-to expert on Victoria Legal Aid and plays a key role in client-facing work. Her ability to offer compassionate, culturally sensitive support to separating families is deeply valued by both colleagues and clients. Pia brings warmth, precision, and a strong sense of purpose to her work, and we are grateful for the energy and insight she contributes to CFLS.
