About

Evan Dunbar

“It’s very motivating to be able to help people who are going through some really difficult circumstances find the help they need.”

CFLS welcomes Evan Dunbar to our team, a legal professional who joins us as a Senior Paralegal.

Having picked up his first Daredevil comic at age fourteen, the ideas it held of justice and caring for those in need – whether in one’s immediate community or beyond – sparked the beginnings of what would later become a career in helping others.

Born and raised in Melbourne, Evan began his studies in 2017 at Monash University. He completed a Bachelor of Laws (LLB), a Bachelor of Commerce (majoring in Economics), and a Diploma of Languages (Spanish & Latin American Studies), before graduating in 2022. During this time, he gained extensive experience working and volunteering in legal intern/ assistant roles for organisations including: Northern Community Legal Centre, Moray & Agnew Lawyers, Monash Climate Justice Clinic, Environment Protection Authority (EPA), and the Australian Conservation Foundation.

Though each opportunity provided valuable experience working with legal practitioners, systems and clients, it was his time working on family law matters at Monash Law Clinics Community Legal Centre that solidified his interest and passion for family law.

Following university, Evan travelled overseas, spending eighteen months volunteering in Peru, Nicaragua, Honduras and Colombia, building many great friendships and memories in the process. He worked on projects relating to farming, sea turtle conservation, language translation, interpreting, tutoring, and volunteer coordination for a school supporting individuals with physical and mental disabilities.

After returning back to Melbourne, what drew Evan to CFLS was a shared focus and passion for providing separating families with client-centred support. Ensuring that a client receives guidance embedded with empathy, compassion and an understanding of the ways in which one’s background or ethnicity can shape their experiences is of great importance to him.

Precise, organised and eager to continue learning, we are very grateful to have him supporting us and strengthening the inner-workings of CFLS.

In his spare time, Evan is an avid gardener, with fruit and veggie-growing in his skillset. For him, entertainment comes in the form of a Bollywood movie with a compelling storyline, or playing a game of soccer with his teammates. He is multilingual, speaking English, Spanish and French, and looks forward to travelling back to Central America one day to revisit the projects he worked on and the wonderful people he met.
