Conversation Series- Social Science for Family Lawyers

This event was on June 13, 2018.

The role of the family lawyer is unique. To assist separated families, it is crucial to have an understanding of the context of any presenting disputes, including the impact of the separation on the parties and children, and the age and stage of development of the children. This influences how we deal with our clients, as well as the advice that we offer them, and the supports that we recommend.

Join me when I discuss this fascinating topic with Rosa Silvestro, a very well qualified and experienced psychologist who has worked very closely with lawyers both within the court system and outside of it. We will look at what is the necessary understanding that lawyers need to have to appreciate the impact of social science on the legal issues, how to access the relevant and current research, and how to maximise our working relationships with social scientists for the best outcomes for our clients.
